Artist Statement

I believe that as an artist I should record my world, my place, my time.
Much of my work displays the present and its very temporary nature. So, change in urban and rural landscapes has been a theme I have pursued with a passion. Be it loss of significant heritage buildings, exciting new architectural designs or rural culture and rural decay, my paintings focus on the present but highlight the constant change around us.
Artistically the elements of most concern to me have been colour, line and texture. I want my paintings to be visually exciting and believable but also provoke appreciation for and understanding of our world, our place, our time.
